after start up when I double click on a icon on the screen nothing happens I click it off after ages, then try another same thing happens, then later they all appear together ,done system restore several times If work off line ok, then connect to internet it seems ok done virus checks with norton no viruses

Download the following: A-aware.. Spybot search & destroy, and Ccleaner. All free. These will clean all dodgy stuff spyware etc. from your pc. Remember to turn OFF system restore whilst doing this, as people clean their puter.. just to let system restore put it all back by "restoring" it. good luck!.
p.s.
I found Norton to be cumbersome and slowed my puter, I'd give AVG FREE a try Works great.
