where do i find the heater relay on hotpoint wf840?

if f08 is displayed on screen does this mean that the heater relay has gone

Yes that's correct,

have you metered the heating element?,

check the element using a multimeter,a open circuit indicates a failure,

you can test the element on either the ohms or continuity setting,

the heater relay is on a small pcb mounted behind the facia of the machine.

I suggest you meter the element first,
