why does my LG WM14225FD?

Why does my LG WM14225FD washer sometimes cut out near the end of the cycle and leave a faint smell like when you pull a cracker?
Had the man out who could find nothing wrong.

hi,

a was hoping you didn't say the final spin because its a fault with the motor.

you won't see any visible sighns untill you strip it down.

the motor assembly has wound coils,if one of these coils fails the current passed via stator will go to earth resulting in the hall sensor sending a signel to the pcb.

the machine aborts,and shuts down.

Is the machine still under warranty?

if it is, don't attempt a repair because you will void the warranty,

if it isn't then you are looking at a replacement Manufactured by LG
Part No. 4417FA1994E,

and yes you have guessed it ,its expensive,.

Is it dangerous to use.....
well the lg`s pcb configuration can cope with that form of intermittent fault,so no its not a danger to you but I wouldn't leave it unatended.

Get in touch with lg,

what ever you decide to do good luck with it.

Nothing to do with a fuse. the smell and cracking, will be electrical arcing, but could be in several components, filter capacitor, (but why about same time) motor ( again would expect it at different times) speed controller is possibly the 1st to go for, after unplugging unit, remove back, and have a sniff around. Fault finding, is not just about using a test meter. you should be able to limit the area by smell. once you find where, next is why, if the smell takes you to the speed control pcb, look at it, you might see the arc point, look around, any signs of water, streaks etc, same for any other location

it cuts out right near the end of the last spin, makes a crack crack noise several times, so i go into the kitchen and it has cut out, no error codes and a smell like when you pull a cracker from the back of the washer. It has done this 3 times now but is fine inbetween. It does not make sense as to why if a fuse has blown the washer still works. I want to know if I am safe to keep using it.

At which point in the cycle does the machine cut out,

eg.....before during after rinse.

eg before during after first/second spin,

be more discriptive if you want a answer.

your discription tells us nothing,

post back on here if you want help.
