Hi Karl, you could try a new spark plug to rule out that problem. The piston rings are there to create a seal so your engine has compression. There should be some resistance when you kick the engine over, which will not be there with the plug out. If there is no resistance (compression) it may be the rings, or summat else in there. If the plug repeatedly oils up your crank seals may be leaking. Check the level of your gearbox oil.
