Fixing Epson Stylus 2200 - blank vertical lines on prints?

I have just recently purchased an American Epson Stylus 2200 that is a few years old but was only used once. Over 6 head cleans have not given me a satisfactory nozzle test for magenta and yellow so here I am presuming I have blocked jets which I might be able to remedy with a cleaning solution. The other problem however is that when I tried to print a photo off, there were vertical lines down the image which looked like the ink had been scraped off, perhaps by nodules on the paper roller. Could anyone suggest a solution for this because I need to find out if this element is fixable before wasting money trying to unclog the print jet nozzles. Many thanks.

I to have that problem, the best thing I have found is after installing the new inks is to leave the printer on over-night.
With regards to Epson printer's, I have found over many years of use, that if left unused for any longer than a few days the ink causes vertical line printing on all paper types.
The best advice is to use the printer more often.
Or keep it turned on as much as you can, even if you are not printing.
