My dryer has totally stopped working, the red light tells me to empty the water but the container is empty. greatful for any ideas. Jackie.

Hi Paul, many thanks for your reply.
I took off both pieces of the door switch, the one attached to the dryer was thick with fluff but both pieces seemed in good repair and caught onto each other as they should. I cleaned and put back but it's still the same, red light telling me to empty the water. Any idea's?
Really do appreciate your help.
