i'm guessing from what you say as you mention split and range which are 2 different items in the gearboxand they are 2 switched on the gearlever ,front does range,side does split and the light on the dash ... when you go from 4th ,flick it in to high range and select 5th ,it grinds ,??? does it do it in all gears in high range ??? if so then syncros in the range unit at the back of the box are shot ...if you also have a splitter on the box and it is grinding through all main gears when in hi split for example ,then the splitter syncros are shot
