how do you change a ecu on vectra?

i have a t reg vectra 1.8 and have been told the ecu is faulty, if i get one from a breakers can i change it myself

best to get old one repaired all car electronics derby check and repair them. l think they do a postal service send for checking and exchange.l think its best to wait and refit the orignal one if you do not need car for a day or two
