I bought an cordless electric Hedge Trimmer last year from Argos. When it stopped working whilst I was cutting the hedge in the Autumn I just thought it needed re-charging and charged it with the supplied battery for a few hours. I then put it straight away back in the garage. Got it out to do the hedge this week and still doesn't work. tried re-charging again and still nothing.

Could someone please tell me what to test for next, as the guarantee will have run out now. Was thinking the battery charger might be faulty?

It just gradually slowed down and stopped. Shall have to check the charger like you mentioned but never noticed a light indicator before? Maybe the fuse has gone.

if it stopped working wile you were useing last year, did it just stop or did it die down? if it just stopped, then its not the battery, is the charger showing any light when pluged in? is the fuse in the charger plug ok? is there a safty brake on the handel , that is set to stop?you realy need a meter to read the battery for power. to see if its getting the charge,or if you could get a car bulb,or any 12volt bulb. and take out the battery , get two wires put one of them to the power point on the battery and the other to the other powerpoint , and the other end to the side of the bulb and the other to the brass tip on the bulb, and see if it will light, if so the battery is ok and takeing the charge, but if you had a multimeter it will tell you just how the battery is, or if any spark out there you know, might test the battery for you, or some good hardware store or hire all store might test it for you if you ask them ,
