My laptop was working fine (after I dropped it)apart from the mains power connection which was repaired. Once this repair was done they found that I appear to have no power into the screenas it is black. Any ideas what can be wrong?

Try attaching an external monitor to it. If that works then the fault is one of three things. 1) The internal connector to the integral display is loose. 2) The integral display is broken. 3) The daughter card in the PC that drives the integral display is loose or broken.

If you get really stuck. Advent is a DSG (Dixons, Currys, PC World) own brand.
