how can i fix my s&j model 1840 chainsaw?

when you release the operating switch the chain runs for a time. it should not do this. it should stop quickly as a safety feature. it used to do this but not now.

have you takeing the side cover off to clean out the sawdust, also check the chain ajuster screw" make sure that the chain is tight but not over tight, and use chainbar lock on the handel to stop the chain, everytime you put the saw down,
