How do I bypass the immobiliser on my 1996 Renault laguna?

I tried to change the batteries on my key fob and now it wont work and Renault want £200 for a new key which is not worth it for the age of the car. We cant find any codes for the key. Is it possible to by pass the immobiliser in any way. My son is disabled and we really need the car.
