cleaning the heads on a vcr ?

can meth spirits or turps be used to clean the heads ? or
any other household solution available, i have direct access
to the workings to apply a cleaner with a cotton bud. Thanks to whom - Stuart.

isopropl alcohol will clean the head but needs to be dried off well with a lens cloth. otherwise buy a cleaning tape
