How can I fix my Packard Bell iPower Laptop?

My iPower Packard Bell Laptop starts normally upon power up but the screen is blank because it does not boot nor appears to be recognised by the CMOS. My off hand guess is dead dattery but I do not know how to locate battery compartment to change the battery, if it is the culprit. I have tried F11 without result. What else? Any plausible suggestion would be appreciated with thanks.

What do you mean by: 'starts normally upon power up' . If it is not booting that is not a normal startup. What do you mean by: 'nor appears to be recognised by the CMOS'. Wha isn't recognised by CMOS? Even a completely dead battery won't usually stop a power up sequence if the PC is plugged into the mains. Try putting an external monitor on to see if you have a problem with the integral display.
