SP means speed fault or in other words motor not running when it should be. If it still won't spin with bowl empty then you either have a fault with main circuit board, wiring down to motor, motor itself or the speed sensor on top of the motor which tells the control board the status of the motor i.e. turning or not and at what rpm. You will only find out by fault finding. Start by testing with a voltage meter to see if power is supplied by the control board ( terminal marked FWD for forward power on spin) if yes then check power is arriving at motor end of harness.

Hi my husband has done everything you have said. he disconnected the pump took it apart tested it out of the machine it works but when he puts it back in the machine the pump wont come on. However the machine window keeps flashing the code SP ( or 5P). Can you tell my what the code means. I live in Aitutaki in the Cook Is. and we don't have any qualified technicians here.

It won't spin while it is full of water. It has to drain first. If it is not draining you may have a blockage in the drain pump or hose. Put machine on final spin. Press start and listen. If you hear a humming sound down near the back lower left corner, that will be the pump trying to go. Get the water out by lowering the drain hose down in to a bucket and let water flow out until empty. Then remove the pump and check for blockage.
