How can I stitch my leather recliner along the seam in the seating area ? ?

I have a Lay-Z-Boy leather recliner. Along the seam in the sitting part of the seat is a 12" tear horizontal to the arm rests, can it be stitched for continued use? It's over 15 years old, worn spots, and mechanisms, is it worth it or do I take advantage of the current $150.00 Lay-Z-Boy trade in program?

Personal preferance, plus can you afford a new one.
Anything can be fixed. If Diy, cheaper than getting it done, I would suggest using a backing tape to strenghten. How much to have it done, Well depends on where you go. BUT personal preference really. Personaly, I would fix, as I do not have much money.
