Misty Headlights on Nissan Micra 03?

Hi, My headlights on my Nissan Micra are covered in a sort of Misty substance which wont come off with normal cleaning, can anyone help with any tips on how to remove the offending stuff? :)

Car polish and a lot of rubbing. And I mean a lot of rubbing. The haze is caused by the sun due to the angle of the head light.
