You can't adjust the idle speed as it's controlled by the engines ECU via an idle control valve, based on information from various sensors. The valves do suffer with getting gummed up with old petrol/carbon deposits, you can remove and clean the valve only with a spray "carb cleaner" and an old toothbrush, the valve is mounted on the inlet manifold and looks like a small cola can
