I'd seriously like to know who this SD idiot is, never seen so much rubbish written by one person.

Test meter across battery terminals, should read higher than battery voltage, if you then turn power off, voltage should drop slightly, to battery voltage. if it does it is charging, If the alarm goes off, battery fault
