Hotpoint Combination Fridge Freezer 8553 - Motor Running Continually!?

The motor runs continually and there is some hissing noise coming from the rear.

The appliance is in good condition aesthetially inside and out even though it must be about 13 years old.

Is there a way to fix this problem, it sounds like a thermostat problem to me?

Thanks in advance for any help

I have a similar problem:-
Freezer motor running continually.
Freezer temperature -25 degrees C. so not a leaking gas problem.
Measured power consumption is 2.5 KWh per day, which equates to about £100 per year!!
I suspect the thermostat is stuck 'on.
There are two separate motors and thermostats for the fridge and freezer sections.
There are many suppliers for parts, however they all show a thermostat unit with an adjustable spindle. The freezer is not adjustable, hence I think that suppliers are selling the fridge thermostat assembly as the freezer thermostat, which is wrong. Has anybody come across this anomaly? Can anybody supply the right part number for the FREEZER thermostat please???
