Hi Hotpoint 800 Electronic 9506 my drum has come loose it moves freely in the machine in any direction but will still wash and spin although noisily can it be fixed or is a new drum assembly in order??

from memory that model is of the older series when they made proper machines, the drum is accessed by removing the front panel , remove the wiring from heater and stat andthe clips that hold the front of the tub in place, undo the big nut on the pulley wheel at rear and drift the shaft forward which should show you its condition, ideally fit new shaft and bearings and seal while they are still to be had. lock up the pulley wheel with the handle of a hammer or similar to undo the nut, about 10 mins work
