Cannot get Scantronic 9651 to set on exit?

I put the code in, press A and there is a long constant tone. The panel says "setting A" or similar. I close the front door but can still hear the tone ringing. Have left it for quite a while but continues to ring. Have tried waiting indoors until the tone changes and then exiting but it doesn't change. Any help would be hugely appreciated as the problem is at a friends house which I am looking after so feel responsible. The problem has been intermittent so a few retries have sorted it - today it wasn't playing :( Thank you.

Could be a sticky contact too.
As the walk test did or rather the results of tested circuits were not given.
And a ER zone is ignored on exit. Also goes into alarm if system is set and the wrong route entered.

your very welcome,we are here to help

thank you for your reply, you must have a pir instead of a door contact to trip the timing circuit,it may have a fault in it,

gts - will try this if waving at sensor doesn't work! Thanks for posting a reply. S

Thank you so much for your response. Read your post then went back to the house. The tone was still ringing when we got there My husband came with me and he did the code and A, the straight tone started again and then he waved his arm at the motion sensor on the wall which seemed to trigger the different exit tone so set OK. I will try this again when I next go there. If this was a fluke and still have trouble I think I will need to get an engineer out. Thanks again for your support in responding to my question. Much appreciated.

key in your number, press 9 this will put you on walk test, open front door, you should get a alternating tone,(bleeping )and the zone should be displayed on the keypad,it could be a duff door contact, try this ,and get back ,

since you have only been left instructions on how to do a timed set, then there's nothing you can do.

All I can suggest is make sure that all windows and doors are closed, enter your user code and press the tick button, hopefully this will perform a customer reset, and try setting the system again, leave the property and let the timer run untill you hear two short beeps.

The system is now set,if you hear intermittent beeping folowed by a alarm condition, then enter the property enter your code and tell us what the keypad is displaying.

Don't worry,this isn't your problem,however your actions are.

If the reset doesn't help, then can you find any engineer/alarm company details,

Can you contact the home owner and let them know what's happening and let them advise you on what to do next.
