kr 850 ribber and brother kh 900 knitting machine?

Please can anyone help, we have just purchased a Brother KR 850 RIBBER for our Brother KH 900 Knitting machine, we have set it up as described in the manual but every time we pull the handle the carriage gets stuck, it stops, we can not move it left or right. When it stops there is a click sound as if a button popped out.

Please can anyone help?

Hello Johanna,

Sorry to hear you are having problems. Here are a few pointers for you to check.

Can you move the carriages across when there are no needles in working position? Check that the connecting arm is positioned correctly. Check that the ribber is pushed up to its highest position.

Is the underside of the Ribber carriage clean and oiled along all the needle channels? If you bring up some ribber needles only you can move the ribber carriage across a few times to make sure it is running smoothly. Make sure all the moving parts move freely.

Are the needles catching on the underside of the connecting arm? If this is the problem, check the sponge bar in the KH900 and replace it if the foam has gone flat.

Are the needles from one bed hitting into the needles of the other bed? Make sure the Pitch is set correctly on the Ribber.

Check that the gate pegs are straight and lever any that are crooked back into position.

The Ribber might be set too high, your manual should explain how to check this. If not a search on the Web will find the relevant information.

Hope this helps,
