why do i have white gunk under my engine oil filler cap? ?

why do i have white gunk under my engine oil filler cap? does this mean my head gasket is going if so is there a cheap way of repair without replacing gasket and costing a fortune.

It's usually caused by the Cam box ' rocker cover getting cold air across it and causing condensation inside. It could be water in the oil.
Look at the oil dipstick. Does the oil look ok ?
If in doubt, drain it out and examine it.
You could remove the rocker cover, clean it, and see if it recurs.

Check compressions and watch out for water level drop. If they are ok, it's probably the cold air problem.

Do you do a lot of town driving?short trips?sometimes a build up of condensation in the engine causes your problem,wouldn`t go and strip heads off until you are sure that is your problem.Also make sure your engine breathers are nice and clean.
