can i drive my car when the oil light has just come on?

my daughters oil light has just come on in her 1ltr 2002 corsa. I had a small amount of oil left which i put in but the light is still on. will she be alright driving it to work tomorrow until i can get more oil in the evening?

the oil light is not for checking oil level, but to let you know that there is little or no oil pressure feeding vital parts of your engine-which if not checked asap could allow your engine to sieze-up.and as previous post could mean new engine or costly repair.could be something simple but needs checking out.

have you dipped the oil?get this sorted pronto or start sourcing a new engine.

There is still enough oil in the engine for a good while. There is always a security margin and the light comes on when you start threading in that margin.

So, yes, you can drive the car under normal conditions. Just don't forget to add enough oil as soon as possible.
