blade lubrication?

I have just purchased a new Qualcast 450W Hedge trimmer, with no instruction manual. (I'll ask Homebase to get me one next week).

a. What is the correct type of (machine?) oil to apply to the cutting blades? ie viscosity and type of applicator (aerosol/oilcan)

b. Frequency of application (after each use/clean)?

I should be treated as a complete idiot, so don't set the bar too high in use of technical terms.

Thank you.

You can buy oil specifically designed for this applicatiion - it comes in a spray can. It lubricates, but is non-sticky so grass/leaves etc don't stick to the blade.
