the fuel pump drives with the cam belt .between the the fuel pump and the diesel filter is a set of plastic pipes with a bulb in to prime it or bleed it.these go faulty and you need to replace them they leak in air and wear through and you can see air bubbles in line. also the pressure switch on the injecter rail go down and that stops them starting.you need a code reader to tell you fault if its electricial l do not think the 1.4 hdi has pump relay as the pump is belt driven
