What is the matter with my Renault Clio?

Yesterday my 2005 Clio worked fine, today when I went to start my car it just won't start. I have charged up the battery and it still won't start. It just makes a clunking noise when I turn the ignition key. I have checked all the fuses and they seem ok. Where do I go from here? Is there any alternative to calling the dealer?

my renualt clio 03 plate has intermittently been losing all revs and dies whilst driving but engine stays running i have found a bare wire running from the ecu, would this be causing the problem?

first of all make sure your engine has oil in it and is not seized,if that is ok then it sounds as if your starter is at fault, you dont have to go to a main dealer, find a good reputable workshop with lower rates and it will save you a bit, and lastly get used to putting it into a garage,it is a Renault after all.
