My home alarm system is behaving strange can anyone help?

I have a Scantronic 9450 Home intruder alarm system which does not set off the external and internal sounders once it has been armed and the system is live. you can walk round the house activating the pir's, open the back, patio and internal garage doors, hit the vibration sensors on the windows and nothing happens. the only time you get it to trigger is if you open the entry, exit door (front door). I have carried out the bell test and the system walk test and these work as per the user operation manual with everything working as it should. I have also fitted a new battery and reset the whole system back to the factory default codes by shorting out the molex pins and then returning the system to customer mode. Has anyone ever had this problem and if so please help.

That old girl is probably riddled with dry joints now, if reprogramming her doesn't sort it then it's a bin job unfortunately :(

Sorry e manno, I have now re-read my explanations and I'm confused never mind you! Please ignore the battery replacement and the factory re-set. And look at the issue as you stated -"that nothing triggers the alarm except for the entry/exit door". For example - I can come downstairs in a morning walk round all my house, open my internal connecting garage door, go out in my back garden through my back door or patio doors and the alarm does not trigger. However if i go out thru the front door this triggers the entry/exit beeper, and if i do not enter my code and let the beeper run its 20 secnd course it then sets off the alarm. Is that a better explanation?

And now you say "I have not replaced the battery",

Sorry Stevie, we are not on here to play mind games,so it's good luck and goodbye from me.

So nothing else triggers an alarm condition, only the entry/exit door.

Is that correct ?

Your explanation of events are somewhat confusing here, as you have made several contradictions with your posts.I for one don't know where we are with this one.

Thanks for your comments Acorn and Alarm. I think that I have explained the problem back to front! Firstly, the alarm system needed a new battery, which I replaced but still encountered problems. I was advised to carry out the reset procedure and that did solve the problem I was encountering at that time. This problem I am now experiencing when the system is armed and live and then not setting off the internal and external alarms is a new problem and I have not replaced the battery or carried out a factory reset. I hope this makes a little more sense and I am hopeful you can help me out. Many thanks. Ps what does QFA mean Acorn? Is it a technical term?

Why is it always assumed that resetting to factory defaults is the 'be all & end all' when having a problem with an alarm. It's not.

Even bigger problems are caused, as shown.

qfa, big time

Sounds like you have messed about and do not understand the manual.
Take a hour ( as your not used to this stuff) read it, then have a good sleep and read it again.
Then fook about with resetting, as you probably did it because you thought it was a good idea, rather than reading the memory logs and seeing the issue.
