My Alarm keeps going off intermitently ?

I never use the Alarm but am aware that when it goes off I have the Code to silence it. It is now going off at irregular times perhaps every 5 minutes or perhaps after a 4 hour period. I need to know how to disconnect it entirely. Is there a battery in it or have I got a short circuit after the heavy rain ?
I cant get an Electrician out to help me

Almost as confusing as an Erasure concert (Alemania 28/03/2005) lol.

i just love this site :-) dont you guys ?

gts, July 2012
glad me not dissapoint you alarm guy :-)no harm done e manno :-)

gts, July 2012
I had better not add regarding TN-C-S, i've caused enough trouble here already :-(

e manno, July 2012
Ahh yes the TN-C-S, was wondering if you would bring that one up lol.

Alarm, July 2012
but as a point of interest,in a tn-c-s earthing system in a 240 volt mains the earth and neutral are connected so the if earth fault develops, then rcd trips ,funny thing electricity ,you cant beat the workings of a wheel barrow :-)

gts, July 2012
too true alarm guy :-)regards to you too

gts, July 2012
I got the jist lads :D

GTS is a good chap here and gives good advise. As you say you (Emano) posted on the wrong site and got us a bit confused lol.

Sh1te happens.

it not matter guys,as long his prob is solved, thats we here for :-)

Gts has said nowt wrong here alarm, he was commenting on my post, which should of been posted elsewhere not here. This was a similar accenta issue with a down to earth fault caused by moisture in the MB.I'am at wrong here not gts.

e manno, July 2012
Its clear now and I did misunderstand you GTS. Thought you (as you do ) knew better.
If the MB has an issue then yes the RCD will trip as you know.

As we now know there is one there!!

Alarm, July 2012
but its clear now if the guy has a master blaster fitted,as its as you know 240v with 12 volt trigger,so if you get low insulation in the motor,it will indeed trip the rcd and only an idiot would say neutral is an earth return,:-) i am an electrician alarm guy,i know the diff

gts, July 2012
you missunderstand my reply alarm guy,it was a statement, meaning you have no earth conn in a bell box

gts, July 2012
Sorry my laptop has gone down so I've been using my iPhone ,seems I had bookmarked both sites but returned to the wrong site when posting.

Both accenta's with the same neutral to earth issue (RCD trip)and control battery issue but only one with the master blaster fitted.Didn't realise I was on the wrong blooming site until I returned to read the posts.

e manno silly old fool, July 2012
Soray guys been talking to an engineer who has accenta set up with additional p- series 127 db 230 Vac, seems the motor has moisture so it trips the RCD when it runs.

Sorry I've got my posts crossed again, jjust returned from Indonesia i'am a little groggy. Once again my apols for the mix up :(

Wot?

Since when were bell boxes earthed, unless to the fabric of the building?
Even then the new plastic ones will never be.

Or are you calling the tamper return (Negative) an Earth?
In which case your also incorrect. As this would not cause the differential for a RCD to trip.

Care to comment ?

Care to expand on this GTS?

Alarm, July 2012
bell box not earthed

gts, July 2012
dc fault will not trip a rcd unit emamo

gts, July 2012
Moisture somewhere, that can cause your down to earth fault, I would suspect the outside sounder is causing the RCD trip.you also need a new control backup battery.

e manno, July 2012
only way an rcd unit trip if there is earth fault check your spur unit for any short ,an alarm panel unless it an earthed unit will not trip an rcd unit it could be an earth faullt in the trannie we dont use these cheap panels,

gts, July 2012
1st question, how old is the battery, if it is 5yrs or more it is past its 'use by date'.

Duff batts. can cause all manner of strange abherations

acorn, July 2012
The Panel appears to be a 8SN 401 Accenta G3 Panel or a 8SP 400 N Accenta mini G3 panel. They both look the same to me. The green Day light is showing as is the Red Power light but there is no light under either the TA or PA. It is still going off about every 4 hours at the moment. When it goes off it trips the RCD protected circuits switch in the main modern elec panel. When I push the trip switch back up the louder alarm goes off but then ceases if I put the code in

Bill, July 2012
Or it could be a smoke alarm with a low battery.

MORE DETAILS NEEDED.

This is how to mend it not Mindreaders.com

Alarm, July 2012
Believe it or not, if you give the control panel type and describe any indications shown, I expect we could help you put this right.

With what information you haven't given us, no chance.
