vauxhall corsa1.0 lt?

we have a old corsa. my son was driving it yesterday sudderly the gearbox jamed in 1st gear and i cannot get it out pls help

check if the gearbox linkage is intact. its on top of the gearbox then goes back via linkages and a pinchbolt to the bulkhead.check for broken links,loose bolt etc.if you move the gear lever you can see its operation under the bonnet.
