Bissel Proheat carpet cleaner keeps over-heating?

I have a Bissel Proheat cleaner, Model 25A3. It's maybe 2 years old. I have a super light carpet, and have used it approximately every 2 months or so. The last time I tried to clean my carpet, it was making a strange noise, started slowing down and then stopped completely. It smells like it's over-heating. Is there any way it can be fixed at home?

hairs can get caught in the brush roll end caps and act like a brake, the motor trys to turn the brush roll but cant so the belt either snaps or the toc in the motor trips to stop the motor burning out

check the brush roll is not blocked with hairs common fault
