The car is mis-firing. The warning light came on yesterday while I was driving in a very wet rural Scotland don't know if this is a coincidence?

check the plugs are the gaps burnt to wide or are the leads at fault

you could have a look at your plug leads from the coil pack to the plugs and try a spray with a silicon aerosol to deter dampness
