Thankyou so much, my son has replaced the reed, and thanks to Alarm. We have a maplin store only a few miles away, although it was different to the one fitted,my son is a joiner so it did'nt cause a problem and it looks neater. All is working as it should do now, fingers crossed. So a BIG BIG THANKYOU .

Then you need a new door contact on zone 1.

Maplin`s sell them http://www.maplin.co.uk/five-terminal-flush-contact-reed-switch-3076

Rip off price but you can do this yourself and save a call out so in reality cheap.

Good you have tested using both codes 19= latching and 06= none latching, that tells us your door entry/ exit is on zone one.

Go ahead and replace the door contact ( its broke ), if you are unsure then get someone in.At least now you know what the problem is, good luck with it and above all else take care.

We have walk tested using both codes and we have zones 2,3,4 lit, there is nothing when we open and close the door,.

Irene, July 2012
Sorry Irene enter 06 instead of 19, I was trying to recall from memory.06 to enter the walk test not 19, sorry if I have confused matters but it is in the manual.

e manno, July 2012
Try this : enter your code then press PROG followed by 19.

Open and close your door ,then take a look on your remote keypad for a lit zone LED.You should have a zone indicator lit!, if you haven't press RESET twice then give the door contact a little tap with something like the handle of a screwdriver and repeat the procedure. It maybe a sticky door contact (intermittent), but you should replace it anyway.

Replacing the door contact should cure the problem.

Thankyou emammo, my son's here now and he as looked at the manual and he cannot make head nor tail of it either.we have 3 PIR s in my bungalow with 1 sensor on the front door that look like 2 small boxes. Does that make any sense?,thankyou for the help.

?

Anything you don't understand Irene?

don't stay away if u are unsure, don't be afraid to question us, we will try and help you out. Or have you worked it out for yourself?,final exit PIR or sticky door contact perhaps?

e manno, July 2012
What's on on your entry/exit, eg PIR or door contact?, it sounds like your exit timer is running.

Have you any zone's LED's lit on your keypad?

Let us know, and ignore kash because he has just instructed you to open your panel and disconnect the battery without switching the power of to your panel, really dangerous that, the mains voltage within the panel can kill.

It's highly unlikely your backup battery is at fault here, in the mean time google for your alarm's engineering manual so I can go through a walk test procedure. It's easier for all if you can refer to the manual as well.

Hi, I couldn't count them if I tried, it beeps constantly, it only beeps when I try and arm it.as I say it shuts up when I enter my code to Unset it. Can you help please and thanks for your reply.

Irene, July 2012
hi normally its down to the back up battery in the main alarm box being flat will need replacing. this will not let u set the alarm. u can test by disconnecting the battery terminals and if it sets thats ur problem. the back up battery keeps the alarm running during power failure.

kash, July 2012
count the beeps and get back to us
