Daf 45 Air is constantly being lost from the "Spring Brake chamber" ?

Air is constantly being lost from the "Spring Brake chamber" when the handbrake is off. The air is venting through a small pipe below the chamber, causing the handbrake to come on whilst the vehicle is in motion. Any advice and help will be very much appreciated. Thanks

With reference to the question at the top of this page set by myself "Muiris" The type of springbrake chamber fitted to my Daf 45 is indeed very easily serviced. There is no danger when dismanteling from a heavily loaded sping. Its only when the device is dismantled will you see where the danger is. Internaly there is a large piston and con rod under tension by the spring. This does not need to be dismantled, and this where the danger would be.
Once dismantled you will see 2 rubber "O" rings and it is these that need to be replaced. The rubber rings can be replaced by buying the rubber by the foot and a superglue joint. Having done this repair with 100

It's a non servicable part and needs to be renewed. Don't try to open it as there's a whopping great spring inside under a lot of pressure.

You need a new one, I had to fit one on my 45 not long ago.
