My Hotpoint tumble dryers model TVM560 stop spinning?

My Tumble dryer model TVM560 stopped spinning but the drum is heating up. However, if I spin the drum manually it will spin but their is a little resistant. How can I fix my tumble dryer? Is it safe to open or unscrew the case of my tumble dryer to see the problem? Please give me some tips and hint to solve my problem.
