It's 10 years old. Last time it worked it apparently crackled and fizzed after the cycle had ended.

Now the light comes on, the door locks and the display counts down as if the cycle is going - but no water goes in, the drum never spins. Even on just a spin cycle the display counts down but nothing actually happens to the drum/washing.

Any ideas?

would worn brushes stop it from filling with water too though?

check motor brushes.10mm of carbon or less is worn out and needs replacing
