I HAVE FITTED A NEW ABS SENSOR TO O/S FRONT ON MY ROVER 75 SPEEDO WORKS FINE BUT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH BRAKES WHEN ABS LIGHT IS OUT IT SOUNDS LIKE BRAKES ARE METAL TO METAL BUT WHEN LIGHT COMES ON [FAULTY]BRAKES ARE FINE I HAVE FITTED NEW PADS BUT STILL NOISY WHEN LIGHT IS OUT
hi just had the same symptom on a rover 75 v6, removed rear hubs and cleaned any dust and dirt, refit and it was perfect, worth a try.

I had the same problem with my abs sensor cable coming loose and getting chafed on the wheel.
this black cable has a red and a yellow cable inside it.
In my case the yellow cable had been completely cut and the red one only slightly worn.
I stripped back the black cable to leave just the red and yellow cables.
taped the red cable with insulating tape then stripped back both ends of the yellow cable, wound the two copper wires together the insulated again with insulating tape.
I then clipped the cable back to the bodywork and when i turned on the ignition the ABS fault light cleared.

hi i had the same fault fault with a 75. the o/s/f abs sensor came adrift from the hub and chafed trough the wheel. i fitted a new sensor but the abs light didnt go out i tryed to reset it with a snap on computer but still would not go out.on testing the sensors on the car thay were fine. i got another new sensor from rover and found that the 1st new sensor i fitted had the shine at the tip waz gone and waz about 1-2mm longer than the 1 from rover it cured my problem worth a bash

I am having the same problem with my Rover 75. I have replaced the sensors and nothing is happening.
Took the car to the specialist who said to me there is nothing wrong with the ABS system and he could not get the light to go off. It just annoys me to drive it like that.

did you ever get to the bottom of the problem with your abs sensor on your 75 as mine is doing something similar
