how to turn off engin light?

I have a zafira 1.9 disel the engin light has bean on for a long time car has passd the MOT is there a simple solution to turn it off or is it going to cost me there has bean no lack of performance in the car

you will probably need a code reader to turn off light,if you have a fault present then it will need to be repaired first or the light will probably just come back on again
