Fixing Miele Honeycomb W460 Washing Machine?

My washing machine is approximately 9 years old and it has developed a fault. When i switch it on the drum spins for approximately 2 seconds, rapidly, then begins to slow to a halt. The 'rinse' light flashes continually. but nothing else will happen unless i switch it off and on again, where upon the fault will repeat. I would like to at least attempt a DIY repair, but i don't know where to begin. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

In mid cycle the sign"check drain" and "check inlet" light up red.
How do I go about it. The waste drain seems ok.

Why the machine spins at the start of the wash is the tacho on the motor. When the motor turns it is looking for a voltage to be generated. It speeds the motor up looking for this voltage. If no voltage is generated it stops the motor and faults with the rinse light flashing. The repair is a new motor module. Pt No. 7785400 just under £100 for the part + fitting. I think your machine will have an index number 40/ Just worth noting the early honeycomb drum machines had a 10 year warranty. Might be worth checking with Miele give them a call with serial nubmer and they will tell you if covered. Tel 01235 554455.

Rinse light flashing indicates motor circuit faulty, unlikely to be carbon brushes as you have 'motor action' if the drum is turning faster than normal at the start of the cycle it is more likely to be a 'tacho' fault (the tacho tells the control board how fast the drum is turning and then in turn regulates how much power is sent to the motor) the fault could lie at either end i.e. faulty motor tacho or faulty pcb.

The flashing rinse light is a diagnostic indicator. It means the pcb has detected a fault in the motor circuitry. It could be just the carbon brushes worn, or faulty motor windings or armature. Cheers
