no power to my condensor drier?

I have a beko DRCS68S i left some clothes in to dry and when i checked 30 minutes later there was no power to the drier - i changed the fuse on the plug only for it to 'bang' when i plugged it back in. I checked the bottom filter/heating element only to discover quite a bit of water - hence the shorting. If i left it to dry for a week and bought a new heating element is it likely to work again. My theory is that the water tank has overflowed and has run down the back of the drier (the inside back) and has shorted the element. I did not have the buzzer4 on - my fault!! I dont really want to pay £50/£60 FOR A NEW ELEMENT for it still not to work - any suggestions?
