There isn't anything else to generate a 'kick' that you can measure. In 90% of cases, the coil will fix it. There are only 2 other components in the ignition circuit. There's an ignition 'module' (looks like a car relay), and a magneto pick-up coil (mounted under the flywheel) - however, these rarely give trouble.
One thing to check - I have 6 of these, and on 4 of them, the cut-out switch is labelled wrong (IE 'ON' kills the engine!). Check this first!
