I have an Indesit WiXL143 Washing machine that appears to wash fine but the fabric conditioner always remains in the dispenser. any ideas what the fault maybe. have cleaned out the dispenser and will in a wash have peered to see that water does pass through the powder compartment.

there are two water vales,one is a double cold water valve,one is a hot water valve,one side of the double cold valve feeds the rinse and top up of water during the wash,the other side opens at last rinse to rinse out the fab con,doing at 90 dec wash does nothing but waste your electricity,alyou need do is put some vinegar in your machine and do a rinse,this cleans out grease left over during wash cycles,or if you live in england,put some calgon in the machine and do a warm wash with the machine empty

Try putting the machine through the hottest wash cycle (usually 90 degrees) with nothing in the bowl and no detergent. It will help flush out all the internal tubes and pipes. This is a maintenance tip I heard once on a radio show - it was advice from a repair man on how to extend the life of white goods and prevent the need for servicing. I do this every couple of months with the washing machine and dish washer.
