For Ian (re. Flame Failure Device)?

Thanks for that Ian, but how do I check for boiler overheat, and where do I find the "safety sensor"?

Thanks for that Denis, however, I am an experienced plumber.

As this particular boiler doesn't have a safety sensor, I now suspect the thermostat. Will go through fault finding (electrical) checks this evening.

if you do not flush it properly you will cause more problems and can destroy the boiler it self, a friendly warninmg!!!!!!

Get Professional help for your boiler it is a specialist job which not many people can do because of chances of ruining boiler are high!!!!!

Checked the header tank, and water was a bit 'black'. What do you think if I drain/flush the system?
