faulty scantronic ion 16 wireless unit?

my alarm is stating " jamming present " - tick to continue and then supervision fail - zones 03, 05 & 06 [ conservatory, kitchen & lounge - respectively ] . any ideas how to sort this problem and would you know which engineers code this unit uses ??

i know a guy who justs uses a door contact,he place it in room then trips the tamper to see if it regs on panel,if it trips up goes the pir, and to think we have been doing it all wrong for years:-),

your spot on mate,i try for highest reading i can get,
people do not realise what they are doing when they alter the fabric of the building,i e fitting insulated plasterboard that blocks rf sigs, they never tell you, just call and complain their alarm not fuction,i need a drink,!!!!

I've not had much to do with the hybrid and ion range gts, fitted a few and always carried out a pre install radio survey.

I seem to remember we were always aiming for a reading of four or above, eventhough the threshold reading of three would suffice,( please correct me if i'am wrong :),

Had a couple of the hybrid panels suffer from RF signal drop out,but that was mostly because of internal alterations(stud walling) etc.

Then of course these large panel plasma tv's became all the rage, found these, especially if they were wall mounted caused issues described in this ion post.Must be the high voltages that play havoc with the signal, still got the survey paperwork and the scanny 790r + 703 four chan tucked away in a safe dry place.

But yes you are correct in saying it's quite an expensive piece of kit, and an essential kit if you install and maintain the ions :) :).

someone has not done a proper rf sig test, prob not have the meter to do it,(costs a bit o dosh)i have never had any probs with the i ons,we have fitted a lot of them, the bell box is trash, apart from that,i find them fine ,i dont think the radio keypad is up to much,it can only be used to set and unset, you cant reset the system after an alarm from it,not much use unless they have changed it now,

well done tom tv,i forgot about those batts,:-)

Re double check the batteries: The XL range of pirs take regular 1.5V batteries not the 3.6V type found in the older type rf pirs. I had problems with one when a customer leaned their ironing board up against the panel which caused the furthest device to drop in signal.

Great advice given from gts once again, has this advice fallen on deaf ears, or is the questioner pig ignorant and too rude to say thanks?.

Or is it simply this sites fault by stating " it's not possible to say thankyou, so we say thankyou on their behalf".

Not true you can add additional information to your post, and get this, you can and I repeat can say THANKYOU.

e manno, September 2012
is ok,no thanks needed

one more thing,a bit obvious, make sure you are fitting the prop batteries,i.e 3.6 volt, not 1.5 as in ordinary tripple aaa

gts, September 2012
and make sure you have had no work done in house,i.e replace walls, sometimes they fit plaster boards with aluminium sheet on back of them for thermal purpose, this will stop signal from beams reaching the base station

the unit is picking up radio interference, could be from taxi,s radio, try doing a full reset back to factory conditions, then reprog each sensor in turn the unit mon, each sensor for batt fault and will tell you each sensor with low battery its a very good system not known to cause faults

Maybe the battery for each of these PIR's need replacing, the PIR's are not communicating with the panel, it will check for supervision every 4mins or so.

You will need the manual, and obviously the "ENG" code at some stage, for checking the programming and fully testing the system.Without this info you won't be able to troubleshoot.

Sometimes you have to bite the bullet, and call your installer in as acorn has already told you.

I also wish you good luck

I'm afraid I know nothing about the i-on16.

If you installed it you have the engineer code.

If you had it installed your installer will have the code, each installer will have their own codes, any combination of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 & 0 using 4, 5 or 6 numbers.

Good luck
