Hoover wind tunnel won't pick up hair?

The problem is that the upright vacuum works OK if you vacuum with the handle in the full upright position. Once you click the button and lower the handle backwards, the noise changes and it seems that there is less suction on the bottom, as if there is an air leak when the handle is lowered. Is this a common problem? How does one fix it?

our ,no hoover machines are not like those dysons, they rely on seals and rubbish like that, and filters, hoover vacs have only seal on bottom plate and the bag fitment, only cyclinders have seals in upper and lower casings, fan chamber can get blocked if hair clip or such like is picked up,it sticks across the hose and stuff gathers up behind it,

no prob mate, check any filters too,
am not being a smart arse mate, just trying to help

Thanks mm, it is nice that there are trained people online who are willing to give free help, I appreciate that. The only hose I could find is the one that leads from the floor unit to the upright section of the vacuum, it is clear and free of cracks. It works fine when it is upright, it's like there is something wrong with the bottom part of the unit. I think I should take it apart and see whether there is something blocked in the bottom part or a big gap somewhere. Thanks.

well if you know the problem, why ask ??
i am an ex hoover engineer, worked for them for 20 years out at airdrie, you either have a blockage,or a cut in a hose some where,a change in motor sound norm means a blockage but its only a vacumm mate, not hard to work out the prob

Thank you mm for your helpful answer. There is no blockage, I checked, this is a seal problem, not a blockage problem.

there is a blockage, why do people not use their common sense
