How can I fix my washing m/c which won't rotate?

Hi there, we have a Siemens Extraklasse XL1000 washing m/c which is around 9yrs old but has just stopped working (no problems whatsoever to date despite being probably twice a day). The problem occurs when it has filled at which time it fails to rotate the drum but just makes clicking noises. The belt is in place and ok, the drum is free to rotate, and I have just renewed the brushes. The program can be advanced to empty the water (which incidentally doesn't seem to heat up).
Any advice on what might be the problem would be much appreciated.
Thank you,

when you fitted the brushes did you have a meter to check for continuity of the windings and accross the armature as a brush may not have seated correctly, also did you clean up the comm on the armature as it may have carbon on it, do another check on the brushes and also tie down the loom onto the motor case otherwise a wire or two will pull off the connector, listen to see if you hear a relay on the board click in about a minute after starting the spin .
