Vectra c lost timing?

Vectra c 1.9 cdti 150 water pump failure, was driven home! (she thought she was doing me a favour!!) belt held out but idle pulley basically melted, does anybody think its worth putting new pump+belt kit on? Also is it ok to manually turn crank or cam pulley independently to get timing marks to line up because i did'nt line them before i took engine mount bracket off(wanted to see it before i turn it) as it came off the belt slid off pulley! Any help would be much appriciated. Thanx

Try getting crank to TDC or onto timing mark, not sure on these but I would have thought it would be TDC and turn back a small amount, this will mean your camshaft can turn onto your marks without valves hitting pistons, then move crank onto your marks.it may be in your interest to get a loan of a manual for guidance on tension and adjustment of the belt, turn over a couple of times and recheck your marks line up and recheck your tension, good luck

did it drive all the way home without cutting out?If it did then it may be worth your while to get a new pump and belt kit fitted and timed up.When fitted try turning engine by hand a couple of times and see if you feel four compressions
