How can I fix the 'On' button on my Hotpoint TV630 Dryer?

When I press the 'On' button the dryer starts up but as soon as I release it, it switches off. I have to keep pressing the button until eventually it stays on. Is there any way of fixing this irritating problem? The product is a Hotpoint TV630.

the on button is not a switch that stays in, it is linked to a small circuit board near the timer, if you can check the board and the componants that are on it. while you are there check that the wires havent come loose. i have the oposite problem that the dryer wont switch off when you open the door. it isnt the switch.

Apologies, it's a Hoover TV630 not a Hotpoint.
