How can I fix my transit conect?

Transit contact on a 04 plate, how do you replace the gear stick cable linkage?

unscrew gear knob and lift off gaiter and cover, centre consul held on with 4 philips screws and remove, remove two plastic buttons holding on cover on floor in front of dash, you have to split the housing below heater rad held with clips and screws and remove the o/s,this gives you access to the floor under the heater rad,to save you removing the whole carpet/mat which would be a huge job I usually cut the carpet/mat up the middle under the heater rad for access to the two 10mm nuts securing the cables to the floor, the cut is hidden by the various parts removed earlier.Remove air filter housing and the inlet hose down to turbo for access to the cables at g/box,press the buttons on the balljoints to release from selectors and twist the plastic cam a quarter turn at the bracket which lifts up the orange pins to remove the cables from the bracket and the same at the gear lever end,to remove you have to get under the motor and remove the covers above the front exhaust to gain access to the cables which is where a ramp comes in handy, once removed the cables pull up into the cab. Before refitting new cables measure the one cable adjuster on the old cable and try and judge the same location on the new cable and click the locking tab into place and your adjustment should be ok,refit in reverse. Book time is 0.6 hrs and if you can do it in that time then apply for a job in a garage, good luck.
